About Us
Use your British Farmers or you will lose your British Farmers!
We are John and Eden, we moved from Sussex in August 2021 to expand and diversify our growing flock. Although both fresh to hill farming, John’s family hold a history of livestock farming in the South of England, whilst Eden takes the title of 1st generation farmer from her family. Eden got involved with farming when she met John and then became a self-employed shepherdess before they both moved to Lancashire.
The Lancashire hills have provided us with the ideal environment to home our 175 head of cattle (mainly Belted Galloway, Angus and Hereford), 1000 sheep and pigs alongside a few chickens, 2 donkeys, our 3 working dogs and 5 cats. When we first moved to Lancashire we used to sell all our meat to supermarket buyers, and we were earning £1.14 for all the work we were doing on the farm.
We decided to change our business. We started selling our meat direct from the farm in August 2022, advertising through social media. We have gone from strength to strength, expanding the business every year, we now have over 650,000 social media followers and over 7,000 different families across the UK have tried our meat either through raffles or meat sales.
The majority of the meat we sell is born and bred on our farm, however, we also source some from other trusted British farmers and friends if we don’t have enough. We do of course make sure they are paid a fair price.
We do not use any religious slaughter methods.
All our animals live outdoors for as much of the year as possible. Our cattle and pigs have to come indoors over winter or they would make too much of a mess in the fields so it would become dangerous for them.
Like all UK farms, none of our meat contains antibiotics or growth hormones.
We don’t inject our meat with water to bulk it out.
